Des Ryan
Originally fom Co. Galway, I first found fitness through Junior Boxing. However, I found the lure of racing motorcycles too strong to resist, and such is the nature of motorcycling, I soon found myself training for a new reason - Rehab!
After a number of years racing, I decided to do some travelling. On my way around the world, I met a number of very interesting people in the fitness industry and decided that a career in Health and Fitness was one I would like to pursue. When I arrived home, I qualified as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. Since then, I have immersed myself in the Health and Fitness industry and am constantly looking at new ways of training and identifiying what gives the best results.
During this time, I lived in London for a period, and it was here I got back into Boxing training. When I retured to Ireland, I joined the coaching team in Galway Boxing Club and became a certified I.A.B.A. Boxing Coach. I still continue to travel to Galway regularly to coach in the club.
I continue to try new ways of keeping myself fit and in shape, and apart from weight training and boxing training, I have taken part in several running races, but due to Motorcycle injuries am restricted with the amount of running I can do. I have now discovered Mountain Biking and am currently training with the aim of entering a number of races this year.
My Qualifications:
- National Qualification in Exercise, Health Studies & Personal Training (EHFA Level 4)
- National Qualification in Stability Ball Training
- National Qualification in Step Aerobics
- Boxercise Instructor
